IMT10 is the tenth meeting in a series of conferences on thermal diffusion and will be hosted by ULB, Brussels. It is a place, where Nobel prize winner of 1977, Prof. I. Prigogine, worked on on Thermodynamics of Irreversible Processes. He was always encouraging experiments on measuring Soret coefficients and clarifying the influence of this phenomenon on hydrodynamic instabilities.

The sequence of the past IMT conferences is:

  • IMT1 (Toulouse, France, 1994)
  • IMT2 (Pau, France, 1996)
  • IMT3 (Mons, Belgium, 1998)
  • IMT4 (Bayreuth, Germany, 2000)
  • IMT5 (Lyngby, Denmark, 2002)
  • IMT6 (Varenna, Italy, 2004)
  • IMT7 (San Sebastian, Spain, 2006)
  • IMT8 (Jülich, Germany, 2008)
  • IMT9 (Toulouse, France, 2010)

The conference will include both invited and contributed presentations. Given that there will be no parallel sessions, only a limited number of slots are reserved for contributed oral presentations to be selected by the scientific committee. A strong emphasis will be put on poster presentations with large time slots for the  discussions around them. Overall, the conference is organized such as to allow as many scientific interactions and exchange of ideas as possible, between theoreticians and  experimentalists.
